International Center for Wireless Collaborative Research (Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications, hereafter referred to as WirelessCoRe) was co-founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Science and Shanghai Municipal Government in July 2003. It is the first non-profit institution in China which specializes in the research of key technologies for future mobile communications, system integration and testing and standardization research with the technical support from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS (SIMIT) and Southeast University (SEU). It focuses on original innovation to promote international cooperation to achieve common advancement and push forward the formation of international standards for new generation mobile communication technologies.

WirelessCoR is positively seeking collaboration with both domestic and overseas wireless industries and research institutions, and has so far established collaborative relationships with several first-class equipment manufacturers and research institutions worldwide such as Nokia, Ericsson, France Telecom, Siemens, CEA/LETI, etc. As one of the two partners in China, it participates in mobile communications research of the 6th EU Framework Program.
